What is a Progressive Web App?
HomeSort is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it on your device's home screen just like a native app from the App Store or Google Play.
Benefits of Installing
- Quick access from your home screen
- Full-screen experience without browser UI
- Faster loading times
- Works offline for basic functionality
- No App Store or Google Play required
- Automatic updates when you visit
Installing on iOS (iPhone/iPad)
Important: You must use Safari browser on iOS. Chrome and other browsers don't support PWA installation on iOS.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open Safari
Launch Safari and navigate to HomeSort
- Tap the Share button
Look for the share icon in the bottom toolbar (square with arrow pointing up)
- Scroll and find "Add to Home Screen"
You may need to scroll down in the share menu to find this option
- Customize the name (optional)
The default name "HomeSort" will appear - you can change it if desired
- Tap "Add"
The HomeSort icon will appear on your home screen
Using HomeSort on iOS
Once installed, tap the HomeSort icon to launch it. The app will open in full-screen mode without Safari's browser UI, giving you a native app experience. You'll stay logged in automatically.
Installing on Android
Recommended: Use Chrome browser for the best installation experience on Android.
Method 1: Using Chrome

Chrome may show an automatic install banner at the bottom - tap "Install" if you see it

The option may vary depending on your Android version

Using HomeSort on Android
The installed app appears in your app drawer and home screen. When launched, it opens in standalone mode with its own window, separate from your browser. You can switch between the app and browser freely.
Installing on Desktop (Optional)
You can also install HomeKeep on Windows, Mac, or Linux computers using Chrome or Edge:
- Open HomeSort in Chrome or Edge
- Click the install icon in the address bar (looks like a computer with a down arrow)
- Or go to browser menu → "Install HomeSort..."
- Click "Install" in the confirmation dialog
The desktop app will open in its own window and can be pinned to your taskbar or dock for quick access.
Uninstalling HomeSort
On iOS
- Long-press the HomeSort icon on your home screen
- Tap "Remove App"
- Select "Delete App" to confirm
On Android
- Long-press the HomeSort icon
- Drag to "Uninstall" or tap "App info"
- Tap "Uninstall" and confirm
On Desktop
- Open the HomeSort app
- Click the three-dot menu in the title bar

Note: Uninstalling the app does NOT delete your account or data. You can still access HomeSort through your browser, and reinstalling will restore everything.
Installation Troubleshooting
Can't find "Add to Home Screen" on iOS?
- Make sure you're using Safari (not Chrome or other browsers)

- Scroll down in the share menu - the option may be below the fold
No install prompt on Android?
- Try using Chrome instead of your current browser
- Make sure you're on the main HomeSort page (not a subpage)
- Check the three-dot menu for "Add to Home screen"
- Clear browser cache and reload the page
App not opening in full screen?
- Make sure you tapped the home screen icon (not a browser bookmark)
- Try reinstalling by removing and re-adding to home screen
